What is a Rash Guard?
A rash guard (or rashie) is a firm-fitting, quick-drying top made from polyester, nylon, or spandex designed to protect skin, from rubbing or abrasions (such as surf board wax) UV rays, and sun exposure while swimming or being active outdoors. Originally designed for surfers to prevent surf board rash, they are now very commonly used for sun protection while swimming, snorkeling, and as sun safe activewear.
What's the difference between your Rash Guards and Andi Relaxed Fit Top
What's the difference between our styles?
Andi Relaxed Fit - is a relaxed fit t-shirt style, designed to layer over your swimwear or activewear, it is a loose fit but it is not oversized or baggy. Wear for swimming and activewear for UPF50+ sun protection.
Rash Guards (including all crop rash guards and Ladysmith rash guard styles) - are a slim fit, designed for swimming and activewear, they are built to hug your body while swimming, surfing or snorkelling. They are also designed to wear over your activewear for UPF50+ sun protection. If you want these styles to be more of a relaxed fit, we suggest sizing up in these styles.
Do you wear anything underneath?
Yes, our UPF50+ Tops and Rash Guards are designed for layering over the top of your bikini, activewear or swimsuit for UPF50+ Sun Protection.
Are they quick dry?
Our premium Italian fabric is quick drying, ultra chlorine & pilling resistant, it is thin and elegant, soft and very breathable, so you won't overheat.
Is the fabric chlorine resistant?
Our luxury Italian fabric is chlorine ultra resistant and pilling resistant.
Is the fabric UPF50+?
Our fabric is tested and rated UPF50+ in Australia. We send our fabric to ARPANSA (Australia Radiation Protection & Nuclear Safety Agency) which is a regulatory agency for the Australian Government.
Will I overheat?
No. High quality performance fabric that is specifically designed for swimming and sun protection does not make you overheat. Our premium Italian performance fabric is designed for swimming and active, meaning it is light, soft, breathable and super quick drying. It has built in UPF50+ sun protection.
